Groups
At The Well, Groups are one of the primary ways we learn to pursue maturity and health together.
Groups are not programs designed to produce quick outcomes, nor are they classes meant to move people through material. Groups are ordinary spaces where people gather regularly to listen to God and one another, to pray, and to practice faithfulness together over time.
We believe following Jesus is learned through relationships that are patient, honest, and sustained. Groups exist to make that kind of shared life possible.
What Groups Are
Groups are small gatherings of people who commit to meeting regularly in simple, ordinary settings, such as tables, homes, or shared spaces. They are places to:
listen to Scripture together
pray for one another
share joys and burdens
practice care, encouragement, and faithfulness
Groups are not built around expertise or performance. No one is expected to have the right answers or a polished version of life. What matters most is showing up, listening well, and remaining engaged as relationships form over time.
What Groups Are Not
Groups at The Well are intentionally different from many traditional group models. They are not:
short-term studies, rotating courses or semesters
content-driven discussions designed to cover material
affinity-based groups formed primarily around a singular life stage or interest
replacements for pastoral care or professional counseling
While learning and growth are part of shared life, groups are not designed to function as formal classes or structured courses. As the church matures and its capacity grows, there may be other spaces for more focused teaching and study. Groups, however, remain centered on relationship, presence, and the work of growth done together.
Why Groups Matter
Much of the church’s life happens beyond Sunday gatherings.
Groups provide space for people to be known and accompanied on the journey to maturity and health through seasons of joy, uncertainty, suffering, and change. Over time, trust is built, burdens are shared, and faith is practiced within real relationships.
Groups are one of the primary ways care emerges naturally within the church, as people learn to attend to one another with patience and grace. As relationships deepen, groups also become places where faith is lived out together—in ordinary acts of service, hospitality, and presence beyond the walls of our gatherings.
An Invitation
Groups are entered thoughtfully and without pressure. Not everyone joins a group immediately, and participation looks different across seasons of life. Groups form gradually, grow organically, and change as circumstances change. If you find yourself drawn toward deeper shared life, groups offer a simple and human place to begin, coming alongside others as we learn, together, what it means to follow Jesus faithfully.
