What Matters Most

Every church is shaped by what it pays attention to, what it protects, and what it practices over time. At The Well, what matters most is not efficiency or appearance, but faithfulness as we learn to live attentively before God and patiently with one another.

What follows are the commitments that guide our ministry. These are not ideals we claim to have mastered, but convictions we are choosing to pursue together as God forms this church.

Our Mission

Learning to magnify God by being and making mature, healthy followers of Jesus.

To magnify God is to order our life together so that His presence, character, and purposes become clearer among us. We use the word learning intentionally. We are not claiming arrival, but committing ourselves to a way of life shaped by ongoing dependence on God.

Being and making are not separate efforts. We believe discipleship happens most faithfully through a life that abides in God and loves others. As we are being formed, we also participate in the formation of others. As God shapes us, He sends us, convinced that our need for God is to be made known beyond ourselves.

When we speak of maturity, we mean lives increasingly shaped by love, wisdom, and obedience. When we speak of health, we mean people learning to live honestly before God in body, soul, and relationship. This work is rarely fast or dramatic. It is steady, relational, and sustained by grace.

Our Vision

We want to see mature, healthy followers of Christ.

We long for lives shaped patiently and faith that is resilient, honest, and enduring. We desire relationships that are committed and thriving, where people are known, cared for, and accompanied through joy and suffering alike.

We hope to become a people who deeply and wholly care for one another, reflecting the gentleness of Christ in how we listen, respond, and remain present. We seek to be a community that humbly and warmly invites others to experience the kindness of God, not through pressure or spectacle, but through lives quietly shaped by grace.

This vision is not something we expect to achieve quickly. It is one we pursue faithfully, trusting God to bring fruit in His time.

Our Values

Our values help guard our attention and guide our decisions as a church. They reflect what we believe sustains faithful life together over time.

Simplicity
We value simplicity because formation happens most deeply through ordinary, faithful practices. Simplicity protects us from distraction and from mistaking busyness for fruitfulness.

Honesty
We value honesty because truth is where healing begins. Honesty invites us to live openly before God and one another, without pretense or performance.

Humility
We value humility because the life of Christ is formed through dependence, not self-assurance. Humility keeps us teachable and attentive to God and others.

Charity
We value charity because love is the measure of maturity. Charity chooses patience and generosity, especially where differences or tensions exist.

Ministry
We value ministry because the life of Christ is shared, not reserved for a few. Ministry invites participation as God gives gifts and opportunities to serve.

Activity
We value activity because following Jesus leads to faithful action. Activity flows from abiding with Christ rather than striving apart from Him.

Going Deeper

Our mission, vision, and values are not meant to stand alone, but to be lived out patiently within the broader community and activity of the church. If you’re interested in how these commitments are grounded theologically and expressed practically, there are a few ways to explore further:
