An Invitation from our Pastor:
Jesus is asking, “Do you want to be well?”
Our Foundations
Prayer
We believe prayer is essential to the church’s mission. The power of God comes through prayer. We prioritize, promote, and practice prayer throughout our ministry environments and within our relationships.
Care
We believe care is essential to the church’s ministry. The love of God comes through care. We teach, model, and offer Christ’s care and grace throughout our ministry environments and within our relationships.
“What the church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more model methods, but people whom the Holy Spirit can use — people mighty in prayer. The Holy Spirit does not flow through methods but through people. He does not come on machinery but on people. He does not anoint plans, but people — people of prayer.”
— E.M. Bounds, Power Through Prayer, 1910
Our Mission
The Well Church exists to glorify God and make mature, healthy disciples.
-
We believe nothing compares to God; He is truly magnificent (Psalm 145:3). We fully embrace this glorious truth, seek to proclaim it, and invite others to join us in exalting His name (Psalm 34:1-3).
-
A disciple is someone who centers their entire life around Jesus, living in a relationship with Him and committed to following wherever He leads. As followers of Jesus ourselves, we invite others to join us in this journey of faith (Matthew 8:22, 28:19).
-
Following Jesus isn’t about knowledge or achievement. True maturity is shown by obeying God and embodying His love in our relationships. Love is the ultimate measure of maturity (Matthew 22:36-40, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 1 John 4:7-8, John 13:34-35, Colossians 3:14)
-
Following Jesus isn’t about simply adopting new behaviors, but about becoming a new person. Being healthy means fully depending on God and reflecting His character in every aspect of life. Though this transformation is primarily spiritual, it reaches into our body, mind, emotions, and relationships (Proverbs 4:23, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:24, Colossians 3:10).
Our Vision
We envision people authentically meeting with Jesus, pursuing maturity and health, deeply caring for one another, and humbly sharing God’s love with others.
-
In Scripture, meetings at wells were significant moments. Most notably, Jesus met a woman at a well and offered her the hope that only He can provide (John 4). We long to see people experience this kind of life-changing encounter with Jesus, one that starts and sustains a lifetime of following Him.
-
Following Jesus is a journey, one in which God initiates growth and transformation in each person. While God does the work, it also requires our active participation. We want to see people embrace this reality and pursue growth in both maturity and health. Pursuing means continually moving toward these goals, while recognizing that we’ve not yet fully arrived.
-
The journey to health and maturity can be challenging, which is why it's so important to care for one another along the way. We want to see people empowered and equipped to support each other with care and encouragement as they pursue Jesus and continue growing in Him.
-
Following Jesus means seeking out others with the same compassion He showed. Jesus often associated with the lowly and intentionally sought out sinners and sufferers in love. We want to see people humbled by their own experience of God's compassion and moved to reach others with His love.
Our Values
Simplicity
We are committed to a minimal style, structure, and schedule that encourages a quiet, simple life of love and service.
Ministry
We are committed to caring for people and equipping people to care for others, not on programs or events.
Humility
We are committed to humbling ourselves before God so He may give us guidance and grace.
Honesty
We are committed to openly, wisely confessing where we succeed, struggle, and sin.
Charity
We are committed to being good, gentle, kind, sincere, and patient with ourselves and others.
“Every age has its own characteristics. Right now, we are in an age of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations, and a world of nervous activities, which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart.”
— A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God, 1948
Our Beliefs
The Well Church is a Christian community committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. In unity with the historic Christian Church, we align ourselves with the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed as faithful representations of Scripture’s teachings. All are welcome to attend our church, provided they respect our teachings.
We invite you to explore our Basic Beliefs & Full Statement of Faith document for insight into our doctrinal positions. We expect those pursuing partnership to affirm our basic beliefs, while those seeking leadership should largely affirm our full statement of faith.
Our Approach
Practices
When we think about church, many of us picture a worship service accompanied by various programs. At The Well Church, we see church as God’s people coming together to grow in maturity and health. We believe this growth happens not just by attending services or participating in programs, but by being rooted in the foundations of prayer and care. We're committed to embracing the practices of the early church found throughout the New Testament, including teaching, fellowship, prayer, giving, singing, sharing meals, exercising spiritual gifts, and following the ordinances of baptism and communion. These aren’t just isolated activities on a calendar; they are recurring patterns of shared time together that nurture our community.
Environments
We prioritize these practices in three settings we call Growth Environments. Inspired by the ministry of Jesus and modeled after the early church, these environments are structured to foster meaningful relationships and shape mature, healthy followers of Jesus. Each environment is but all are equally important. Below, you’ll find a list of our Growth Environments:
-
Gatherings
Typically resembles a common worship service devoted to teaching, prayer, singing, and the ordinances. In other instances, gatherings will focus on sharing a meal or serving together.
-
Groups
The setting for relationships to deepen. Groups are guided conversations focused on the Bible. They also are spaces for giving, praying, and sharing successes, sins, and struggles.
-
Courses
A hybrid of Gatherings and Groups with increased focus on specific areas of growth. Courses include teaching but emphasize conversation, personal reflection, and prayer.
