Beliefs and Approach
Our beliefs are a series of statements summarizing Scripture's identification of what it means to be a Christian church, and why we identify as one.
Our approach communicates what we prioritize as a church in response to our beliefs.
Our Beliefs
At The Well Church, we worship under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and center our faith on the message of His saving work - the Gospel.
In unity with the historic, global church, we affirm Christian orthodoxy contained in the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. We consider the creeds to be faithful summaries of Scripture’s teaching and reflections of the Gospel message. They inform our Basic Beliefs, which help us act with clarity and confidence in our most essential convictions. Other positions flow within our full statement of faith from these basic beliefs.
We aim to live by our values of humility and charity in all theological matters, especially ones considered “secondary.” As one theologian expressed, our posture is in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity. To that, we add: we seek to be thoughtful about what we consider “essential” and “non-essential,” and welcoming of contemplative, charitable discussion on any point of theology. We invite you to read our Basic Beliefs and Full Statement with that heart in mind.
Our Approach
Because our beliefs shape our lives, we pursue simple, biblical rhythms and create settings where those convictions take root in community and mission.
Practices
Our Beliefs shape the way our approach to church and how we live. We believe the practices of the early church in the New Testament—teaching, fellowship, prayer, giving, singing, sharing meals, exercising spiritual gifts, and observing baptism and communion—are not just part of our programs to attend, but patterns that form us as God’s people, helping us grow in maturity and health while sending us on His mission. We embrace these simple, recurring practices as the ordinary ways Christ builds His church.
Settings
To live out these practices, we gather in what we call Settings. Inspired by Jesus' ministry and modeled after the early church, our Settings—Gatherings, Groups, and Studies—are designed to foster meaningful relationships, deepen discipleship, and shape us into mature, healthy followers of Jesus. In this way, our beliefs are not just statements on a page but a shared life together under the Lordship of Christ.
